# Call in Q&A

Let your live audience ask questions on air: one link, a queue you can see, and guests brought in one at a time.

Call in Q&A puts viewers on air with their questions. You share one **join link** with your live audience. Viewers who want to ask something give their name and question, check their camera and microphone, and wait in a **queue**. You see the queue on your booking page and bring guests in one at a time, into your **guest call slots**.

Guests don't need an account or an app: everything happens in their browser, on a phone or a computer.

## Add it to a booking

Call in Q&A is an add-on with **1, 2 or 4 guest call slots**. Each slot holds one guest on air at a time. The queue behind them can be as long as you like, up to 50 people at once.

- **When you book**, choose the number of slots under **Call in Q&A** on the booking form.
- **On a booking you already have**, open the booking's **Call in Q&A** tab, choose the number of slots and pay. It's priced for the time the booking has left.

The add-on runs for the same time as the booking. It's extended or renewed with it, and shows as its own line on your invoices.

## Set up the guest slots

On the **Call in Q&A** tab, under **Set up**, give each guest slot a studio connection, just as you would a presenter seat:

- **vMix Call**: a vMix Call key for an input you've kept for guests. See [vMix Call](https://presenteringest.com/help/seats/vmix-call).
- **VDO.Ninja**: a guest link from your VDO.Ninja room. See [VDO.Ninja](https://presenteringest.com/help/seats/vdo-ninja).
- **Jitsi Meet**: a meeting link. See [Jitsi Meet](https://presenteringest.com/help/seats/jitsi-meet).

You can also add a short **welcome line** for the join page, for example "Ask the panel a question live". Press **Save Call in Q&A**. You can change the connections at any time, even during the show.

 Tip

Use the same kind of connection for every guest slot, and leave the matching inputs set up in vMix for the whole show. Each guest then lands in the same input as the guest before them.

## Share the join link

The **Join link** box has the link to share with your audience, and a **QR code** of it.

- **Copy** the link into your live chat, your event page or your show notes.
- **Download PNG** gives you the QR code at 1200 pixels square. Add it to vMix as an image input and show it while the queue is open, so viewers watching on a TV or laptop can scan it with their phone. **SVG** is the same code for print or design software.
- **New link** replaces it: the old link and QR code stop working straight away, and anyone already in the queue keeps their place.

Nobody can join until you open the queue, so you can share the link before the show.

## Run the queue

The top of the tab is your live view. It checks for changes every few seconds by itself.

1. Press **Open the queue** when you're ready for questions. **Close the queue** stops new people joining; those already waiting keep their places.
2. The **Queue** shows everyone waiting, in order, with their name, where they're from, their question and how long they've waited. A green dot means their page is open; **away** means it isn't.
3. Press **Bring in** to put the first guest in the queue on air, in the next free guest slot. Their page connects to the studio by itself.
4. While they're on air, send them a **cue** (for example **Please wrap up**), just like a presenter's.
5. Press **End call** when they've finished. They see a thank-you message and the slot is free for the next guest.

You can also:

- move a guest **up** or **down** the queue;
- **Remove** a guest, with a short message they see, for example "Sorry, we've run out of time for questions";
- **Block** someone: they're taken out of the queue and can't join it again for this booking.

 Note

You decide who goes on air. Read the question in the queue before you press **Bring in**, and keep your vMix input off air until you've checked the guest's picture and sound.

## What your guests see

1. **The join page**: your organisation's name, the event title and your welcome line. They give their name, where they're from (optional) and their question, and agree to appear on the stream.
2. **A camera and microphone check**. They can't join the queue until both work.
3. **Their place in the queue**, for example "3rd in the queue", with the number of people waiting. They keep this page open. If they close it for more than a few minutes, they lose their place.
4. **On air**: the page connects to your guest slot, and shows your cues.
5. **Afterwards**: a thank-you message, or your message if you removed them.

Guests never see your booking, your other presenters or the queue's other questions.

## Guests' details

Guests give only their name, where they're from and their question: no email address. Their details are kept for the event and **deleted a day after your presenter links close**, or straight away if you delete the booking. To stop people rejoining, a block remembers a coded version of their internet address, never the address itself.

Showing a guest's name and question on your stream is up to you; they agree to it when they join.
