# Bitfocus Companion

Run a booking from a Stream Deck: presenters on their page, seats on and off, banners, countdowns and cues.

With the Presenter Ingest module for [Bitfocus Companion](https://bitfocus.io/companion), you can run a booking from a Stream Deck or any other Companion surface. You get everything in [Live control](https://presenteringest.com/help/live-control/live-control-dashboard), without the browser:

- A button for each seat with the presenter's name. It's green while they're on their page and grey when their link is off. Tap it to switch the link on; hold it for a second to switch it off, so a stray press can't cut anyone off.
- Cues for each presenter (Stand by, Next, Live, Wrap up, Time's up, Thanks), or Stand by for everyone. A cue button lights while that cue is showing; press it again to clear it.
- The countdown on a button, with Start, ±1 minute, Pause and Clear. On a Stream Deck + or Loupedeck, turn the dial to add or take away time and press it to pause. Or set a time first, adjust it, and start it when you're ready: presenters see nothing until then.
- Banners for every presenter, again cleared with a second press.
- Variables for your own buttons and triggers: each presenter's name, whether they're on their page, their cue, and the time left.

It's handy when you have [more speakers than vMix Call inputs](https://presenteringest.com/help/seats/vmix-call#more-speakers-than-vmix-call-inputs): one page of buttons shows who's waiting, and lets you switch seats and cue people as they go.

## Connect a booking

1. Install the **Presenter Ingest** module in Companion (version 4.3 or later). Until it's in Companion's own list of modules, download the `.tgz` file from the [latest release on GitHub](https://github.com/derhamproductions/companion-module-derhamproductions-presenteringest/releases/latest), then in Companion open **Modules**, choose **Import module package** and pick the file.
2. On your booking page, under **Bitfocus Companion**, press **Connect Companion**, then **Copy** the key. It's only shown once.
3. In Companion, add a **Presenter Ingest** connection and paste the key into **Companion key**.
4. The connection turns green. Open **Presets** to drag the buttons onto your pages.

The presets are made for the booking's seats, with their names: only the seats on your booking get Seat and Cue buttons. If you rename a presenter, the buttons follow within a second or two.

 Tip

Want to build your pages before you connect, or ahead of moving to a bigger package? In the connection's settings, set **Preset seats** to the number you want (1 to 24). You get buttons for that many seats, connected or not. Buttons for seats your booking doesn't have stay dark until it does.

## Keep the key safe

The key controls that booking's presenter pages, so treat it like a password:

- It works for one booking only, and stops when the booking ends.
- It can't see presenter links, emails or your studio connections.
- Companion keeps it in its secrets store, separate from the other settings.
- Lost it, or shared it by mistake? Press **Make a new key** (the old one stops at once) or **Disconnect**.

The booking page shows when the key was last used.

 Note

Changes from Companion work while presenter links are open, like Live control. Seats can be switched on and off before then too.
